


But I think the thing that Richard did best for this was he made Strax useful! He wasn't there simply for the comic relief, but he also created a situation where Strax's particular talents and knowledge were actually needed.

It was nice to have a female villain, and Ellie taking a larger role, to balance out the three male main characters. The story itself was a nice blend of science fiction and horror which fit perfectly with all the characters. The amnesia which led Strax to mistake Jago and Litefoot for Jenny and Vastra was priceless, as was Ellie trying to explain it all to them, and coming up with a theory to get them out of it. The Victorian setting seemed like a perfectly sensible place for Jago and Litefoot to bump into Strax and join forces. This was thoroughly delightful! The first Big Finish blending of "nu" and "classic" characters and it was done flawlessly.
